Medieval Cities

One to the north: Ainay the Castle…

The ancient closed town of Ainay the Castle was the seat of a castle. Although the castle has now disappeared, ramparts and towers still dominate the medieval village. The walker will be inclined to discover the courtesans built in the Middle Ages or up to the Clock Gate, the main gate of the city and one of the last witnesses of the Medieval City of Ainay the Castle, since the destruction of the fortress in the 16th century.

The other to the south: Hedgehog…

From the red-haired ruins of the Fortress of the Dukes of Bourbon, to the bell tower-porche Saint-Sauveur, through the fortified gates of Hell and Gateuil; medieval architecture is omnipresent in the medieval heart of Hedgehog. The maze of small hedgehog alleys will allow visitors to discover mullioned windows, warhead doors, courtyards, remnants of ramparts as well as beautiful mansions from the 14th, 14th, 16th and 17th centuries.
